The Perth-fect picnic

Picnic weather has well and truly arrived in Perth, and Western Australia hold so much natural beauty to experience! Here our our five favourite spots to discover:
  1. Kings Park: a quintessential experience for any Perth picnic-er! There are the standout locations such as the Pines Picnic Area and the Synergy Parklands, but for somewhere a little more secluded, head to the Botanic Garden Entry/Wadjuk Carpark and take in the sweeping views. 2. Heathcote Reserve, Applecross: located on foreshore parklands just around the corner from Garden City, enjoy sweeping skyline views and expansive grass overlooking the river.
  3. Whistlepipe Gully Creek, Perth Hills: a local favourite, follow the narrow river on this pet-friendly 3.5km walk over cascades and small waterfalls until you reach the summit offering up stunning panoramic views of Perth city and the rolling hills! Set up your picnic at any point along the way or wait until you reach the view.
  4. Rottnest Island: hop on the Rottnest Express from Fremantly B-Shed and you'll arrive at WA's iconic Rottnest Island within 30 minutes! For a world-class snorkeling experience with your picnic, wander across on foot to The Basin or hire a bike and cycle to Little Salmon Bay.
  5. South Perth Foreshore: a beautiful spot with views of Perth city across the Swan River. There's plenty of open space to kick a football, play cricket, fly a kite and even walk your dog at this pet-friendly reserve. Check out The Scented Gardens for a peaceful opportunity to sit, relax and explore the hidden pathways and native flora.
