Congratulations Team Spendless

Spendless Shoes were voted in for the medium category, based on our range of 101 to 1000 full-time equivalent employees in stores and support centre roles. This prestigious, not-for-profit award is run annually by Retailworld.

Retailworld is one of Australasia’s best retail recruitment providers, with offices in Australia and New Zealand connecting companies and talent. They have been providing career advice and services in the industry for almost a quarter of a century. Retailworld advocates retail as a “career of choice”, and invests themselves wholeheartedly in promoting it.

The Retail Employer of the Year must have an excellent reputation and employment branding. As you can imagine, it’s a competitive award, with each nominated company hoping to get recognised as the best place to work.

But bragging rights are not the focus of the Retail Employer of the Year Award. If anything, it is a recognition of the core values, environment, and employment brand that the winner embodies. A company with a strong employment brand is more likely to attract and hire high-quality candidates, which will lead to their team performing at a higher capacity and more cohesively.

Those who go to vote were asked a simple question: if you could pick one retailer to work for, who would it be? The merits you base your decision on are entirely up to you, and that’s what makes the difference.

If you happened to make it to their voting page, you would have seen that some of the qualities and benefits people can use to inspire their decision. This included team dynamics, support systems, work/life balance, culture, career progression, training and development, recognition, and values.

"At Spendless Shoes, we pride ourselves on putting customer experience first, always. We want enthusiastic and engaged workers in our stores who will leave a good impression on every customer who comes calling. We know that by building winning relationships and sending customers home with a smile, we get a step closer to achieving that".

"We are so honoured to have been voted at Retail Employer of the Year. Not just because our current team members supported us, but because past employees, customers, and members of the wider market and media have all had a hand in voting too. We’ve shown that our values are a way to live by, not a list to hang on a wall somewhere".

In the words of Retailworld: “… it’s what's really going on and what people have to say that leaves the impression”.
