New Season Trends at Kookai

Kookai welcomes the new season in style, proving that winter dressing does not have to be dull and boring. The new season at Kookai showcases the label’s signature form fitting and structured silhouette with a subtle 70s twist; there’s flares, bell sleeves, and A-line mini-skirts paired with thigh high suede lace-up boots.

The look is retro and high-street- a 70s urban soft rock look as opposed to the bell bottom pants and bright polka dots popular in that era. There’s also touches of bohemian chick thanks to off-shoulder styles, lace-up dresses, and neck ties. Creative Director and co-founder Danielle Vagner says that AW16 at Kookai is also inspired by current street-style trends- outfits that you would see people wear on the streets of downtown Manhattan, Tokyo and Seoul.

When it comes to colour, black is back this season with black on black dominating the runway at Kookai’s AW16 launch. Black cropped trousers are paired with lace-up tops, leather jackets and ankle boots. Bright pops have taken a backseat this season in favour of an autumnal palette of muted tones including grey, khaki, navy and of course, the colour of the season, burgundy.

We’re also seeing pieces we love from the recent New York and London Fashion Weeks including double breasted military style coats, necklaces with tassel detail, fringing on shoes and longline sleeveless coats. Layering was also given the nod with knee length cardigans and wool vests under trench coats and oversized blazers.

Kookai is keeping us warm over the winter while looking feminine and chic. The new collection is now in store.
