2016 colour trends at Villains

There’s a softer take on colours for 2016. For the first time, Pantone, the world- renowned authority of colour, blends two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity- chosen as the Pantone Colour of the Year.
As Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute says, “Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace”.

Despite critics’ initial reactions to Pantone’s choice of two colours as ‘Colour(s) of the Year’, the pairing of the two baby-hued pastels has been well received on international runways. Vionnet delivered satin blush pink camisole dresses adorned with sheer blue draping while Delpozo reinvented the A-line ball gown in pastel pink finished with muted blue snowflake detail. Kendall Jenner gave a feminine approach to the colour-duo at Paris Fashion Week’s Shiatzy Chen show in a pale pink silk organza blouse with a matching baby blue clutch. January Jones took on the trend sporting pink highlights on her golden locks. Paired with a studded pale blue blouse, the look provided a fresh, youthful and doll faced finish.

Whether in silk, cotton or leather, the pairing of Rose Quartz and Serenity brings calm and relaxation. Appealing in all finishes, matte, metallic and glossy, the engaging combo joins easily with other mid-tones including greens and purples, rich browns, and all shades of yellow and pink. Add in silver or hot brights for more splash and sparkle.
